Few things cause as much frustration as a printer that simply refuses to work, especially when you need it urgently. Here are the most common issues and their fixes.
Printer not detected / offline
Go to Settings โ Bluetooth & Devices โ Printers & Scanners. If your printer shows as "Offline", right-click it, select "See what's printing", then click Printer โ Use Printer Online. Alternatively, remove the printer entirely and re-add it.
Stuck print jobs
Jobs get stuck in the print queue and block everything behind them. Open the print queue, right-click each stuck job and select Cancel. If they won't cancel, stop the Print Spooler service in Services, delete the files in C:WindowsSystem32spoolPRINTERS, then restart the service.
Poor print quality
Streaky or faded prints usually mean ink/toner is low, or the print heads need cleaning. Most printers have a head cleaning function in their settings app or control panel. Run this 2โ3 times if needed.
Wireless printer keeps disconnecting
Give your printer a static IP address so it doesn't change every time it reconnects to your network. This is done through your router's DHCP settings โ assign the printer's MAC address to a fixed IP.
